Topic: Center for Safety & Health Sustainability: Why Human Capital Project?
The session will present an overview of the importance of an organization’s human capital and the relationship to corporate performance and sustainability. The OSH professional plays a key role to demonstrate how effective management of an organization’s human capital improves long-term corporate financial performance. Also, the session will provide an update of the Harvard Study research, “Corporate Disclosure of Human Capital Metrics.”
Speaker Bio: Darryl C. Hill, Ph.D., CSP, is currently Senior Vice President, Safety at FirstGroup of America. FirstGroup is the largest transportation services company in North America and the U.K. Also, Darryl has served in senior environmental, health, and safety roles at ABB, Johnson Controls, and Abbott.
Hill is an adjunct assistant professor at Oakland University and serves on the EHS Program Industry Advisory Board. Darryl is an ABET Program Evaluator. Darryl served as American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Society President during 2010-11 which was the 100th anniversary. He also received the highest Society honor as Fellow in 2013. Currently, he is an ASSE Foundation Board Trustee and a past-chair.
He was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve a 3-year term on the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Board of Scientific Counselors.
Darryl is editor and contributing author for the ASSE Construction Safety Management & Engineering book. He is also co-editor for the upcoming ASSE Safety Leadership and Professional Development book.
